Ruth Livier RUTH LIVIER (YLSE) Ms. Livier has garnered recognition for her screen, stage and voice-over work. She is perhaps best known for her role in the groundbreaking hit TV series RESURRECTION BLVD. For her portrayal of Yolanda Santiago, Ruth earned a Best Actress ALMA Awards nomination and a win for RESURRECTION BLVD., received special recognition by the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts, the Breakthrough in Entertainment Industry recognition from Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante and the NAMIC Legacy Award. She has been featured in prominent publications including: TV Guide, EMMY magazine, People en Español, Latino Leaders, Hispanic and Latino Future among others.

Ruth was recently seen in DRAG ME TO HELL, director Sam Raimi ‘s (SPIDERMAN) newest feature starring Oscar-nominated actress Adriana Barraza. She starred in the Fwak! animated feature LOS CAMPEONES DE LA LUCHA LIBRE and her award-winning webseries YLSE (Ylse.net) is now in its second season. Ruth’s bi-cultural/bi-lingual world has given her the opportunity to, not only share the stage with Latin America’s great comedian Eugenio Derbéz but also, to be directed (screen-tested) by the iconic Franco Zeffirelli and to study with the incomparable Jeffrey Tambor (ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT/THE LARRY SANDERS SHOW). Other film credits include REVENGE OF THE BIMBOT ZOMBIE KILLERS, RANCHERO (opposite Spy Kid’s Danny Trejo) IN PLAIN VIEW and ORANGES. Ruth has guest-starred and recurred on numerous TV shows and her voice is heard in popular animated series such as FOX TV’S KING OF THE HILL, Playhouse Disney’s HANDY MANNY and video games like SLY COOPER 3 (Inspector Carmelita Montoya Fox).

MARLENE FORTE (BLANCA) With a name like Marlene Forte, one can expect to meet a woman of great strength and determination, armed with a wicked sense of humor and blessed with a certain fiery Latin charisma. Marlene wears her moniker quite well. The talented Cuban native has carved her path in front of the cameras one tour de force at a time. A founding member of LAByrinth Theater Company in NYC, Marlene studied acting at Lee Strasberg, but credits her acting chops to the L.A.B. (Latino’s Acting Base) LAByrinth’s original name.

On stage, Forte has completed successful runs of such plays like the Pulitzer Prize winning ANNA IN THE TROPICS at Portland Center Stage, Luis Alfaro’s HERO at Studio/Stage and OEDIPUS EL REY at The Getty Villa, and the hilarious cabaret ROCIO: IN SPITE OF IT ALL at The King King Nightclub in Hollywood, penned by her husband Oliver Mayer. Although she loves the theater, Forte carries a TV dossier that may rival some of the most prolific working actors in LA. 

This coming August you catch Ms Forte as “Tatita” in the new Lifetime TV Movie of the Week (MOW), LITTLE GIRL LOST: THE DELIMAR VERA STORY. Based on a true story, this MOW is written by Christopher Canan and Maria Nation and directed by Paul A Kaufman. Some of her other television credits include LOST, LINCOLN HEIGHTS,THE UNIT, CSI, NIP/TUCK, CSI MIAMI, CROSSING JORDAN, LAW AND ORDER and even worked with the Oscar winning director Paul Haggis on FAMILY LAW! She just finished production on J.J. Abrams’ STAR TREK prequel where she plays the Chief Transporter. On film she is known for her lead role in the independent movie LENA’S DREAMs, which she co-produced; Ms Glass in REAL WOMEN HAVE CURVES; Kerri Washington’s mom in Jim McKay’s OUR SONG, Mrs. LopeFraWitz in GLOWROPES, and Alfredo DeVilla’s ADRIFT IN MANHATTAN just released for rental!
ALEJANDRO DE HOYOS (ALEX) Alejandro was born in Ensenada, Mexico. He lived in Acapulco and Mexico City for about 10 years where he became a nightclub manager and promoter for martial arts events – including a world title match- and singers like Lupita D’alessio, Jose Jose, Alberto Cortez, Sylvester, and other local artists. Alejandro moved to California when he was 24 and opened a restaurant, but when he turned 29, he decided to pursue a hidden dream: to become an actor. Since then, he has booked over 150 commercials, and has worked in Theater, Film, and Television. Alejandro is an entrepreneur and is involved in different business ventures. He is currently developing the movie Alta California, in which he is the executive producer and one of the lead characters
GABRIEL ROMERO (SERGIO) has also starred as Marco in the sexy, supernatural soap opera DANTE’S COVE on Here! TV shot in Hawaii, and in the controversial, critically acclaimed Spanish-language sitcom, LOS BELTRÁN, which was produced by Columbia/Tri-Star Television for the Telemundo network, made television history when it garnered two GLADD nominations and earned a NOSOTROS Golden Eagle Award for Outstanding Comedy Series. The show also won the National Council of La Raza’s Alma Award, and an Imagen Award for Best Comedy Series. Romero has hosted E! Entertainment’s celebrity travel and vacation show FYE! featuring luxury destinations of the rich and famous. He has also served as master of ceremonies for FASHION WEEK of the AMERICAS in Miami, MODARTE and LATIN PRIDE in Los Angeles, and for several non-profit organizations like GLASS and BIENESTAR.

Film credits include THE MOMENT AFTER, an award winning film directed by Gerald McCullouch (CSI); BLOOD MONEY, with Alan Arkin; THE FATHER I KNEW-THE MICHAEL LANDON STORY, next to Sheryl Ladd, for CBS; SILK STALKINGS with Stu Segall Productions; and the latest film by Temi Lopez (Chain of Desire) HOME: THE HORROR STORY. Romero’s voiceover talent can be heard in the PBS animated series THE MISADVENTURES OF MAYA AND MIGUEL, the SCARFACE video game, and in commercial campaigns for Infinity, Washington Mutual, AM-PM, Ford, Sprint, Red Cross, and New Line Cinema’s Spanish movie trailers among others. He also studied and participated in directing, producing, lighting and sound design at USC where he earned a BFA in Theatre in 1993. DAVID BARRERA (YLSE 2.3:THE STRATEGIC LOCATION OF THE MALE EGO) David Barrera is familiar to television audiences from his numerous appearances on hit shows including Heroes, CSI: Miami, The Closer, Boston Legal, Medium, Nip/Tuck, Without a Trace, The West Wing and 24 for which he received an ALMA Award nomination.
Most recently David was thrilled to play Gunnery Sgt. Ray ‘Casey Kasem’ Griego in the critically acclaimed Generation Kill, a seven part HBO Miniseries which follows twenty-three marines of First Recon who spearheaded the blitzkrieg on Iraq during the summer of 2003. Generation Kill is executive produced by David Simon and Ed Burns, creators of the critically acclaimed The Wire.
On film, David was most recenly seen in Universal’s family comedy Evan Almighty starring Steve Carrell. Other film credits include Infinity with Matthew Broderick, The United States of Leeland, starring Don Cheadle, and No Way Back, with Russell Crowe. Barrera is currently in post production for Cruzando, an independent film shot in his home town of San Juan, Texas.
David received his BFA from the prestigious acting conservatory at Southern Methodist University and was awarded his MFA from the Professional Actor Training Program at The University of California, San Diego. While at U.C.S.D he was awarded the Princess Grace Award in acting.
He resides in Los Angeles with his talented wife, actress Maria Canals-Barrera and their two beautiful daughters.
HECTOR HANK (YLSE 2.2:EL MERCADO) Hector was born in Mexico City, Mexico and has lived and studied his craft in New York and Los Angeles. He attributes the development of his passion for acting to his rich multi-cultural background and life experiences. He has completed four projects awaiting release to festivals and theaters later this year and early 2009. The characters have encompassed a broad range: a street savvy promoter in UNTITLED HORROR FILM; an engaging, if goofy, screenwriter in the dark comedy RUFUS, HARRY AND MINNI; an explosive and surreal “Boss” in the series INFAMOUS; and the eccentric villainous character of “The Hool”, a nemesis to Wesley Snipes’ character Aman in the upcoming feature GALLOWALKER. In addition, as a member of A.C.T.’s The Rep, Hector is a founding member of the Los Angeles based “The Film Collective”. His last two stage productions in Los Angeles have been at The Hayworth Theater : STORIES OF THE NIGHT TOLD OVER and NAMI. His last production, MEDAL OF HONOR RAG with Heavy D. and Paul Schackman at the Egyptian Arena Theater, was critically acclaimed and directed by Denise Dowse. Two upcoming theatre productions are in development for an L.A. debut in October of this year and top of 2009. Hector feels very fortunate and honored to be working with the cast, crew and contributors of YLSE.
JUDY REYES (YLSE 2.2:EL MERCADO) Best known for her portrayal of Nurse Carla Espinosa on the NBC comedy SCRUBS from 2001–present. Other film credits include Martin Scorsese’s BRINGING OUT THE DEAD, WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, DIRTY, THE POKER CLUB and the independent film WENT TO CONEY ISLAND ON A MISSION FROM GOD, BE BACK BY FIVE. Reyes acted in and co-produced numerous short films as well as GLOW ROPES, a feature film which won the 2002 New York International Latino Film Festival and was featured at the Los Angeles Latino Film Festival. TV appearances include: CASTLE, HAWTHORNE, THE SOPRANOS, OZ, 100 CENTRE STREET, THIRD WATCH. Her made-for-tv movies include JOHN SANFORD’S MIND PREY, with Eriq La Salle, THE PROSECUTORS, the role of Luz Cuevas in the LMN biopic drama LITTLE GIRL LOST: THE DELIMAR VERA STORY, and the 2006 Hallmark Channel movie, OUR HOUSE. Most recent theater credits include Neil LaBute’s SOME GIRLS at the Lucille Lortel Playhouse in New York and GUINEA PIG SOLO by Brett C. Leonard at the Public Theater and produced by Labyrinth Theater. She is a founding member of New York City’s Labyrinth Theater Company.
DARCY SHEAN (YLSE 2.2:EL MERCADO) first worked with Ruth Livier on REVENGE OF THE BIMBOT ZOMBIE KILLERS (currently in post production) and is thrilled to be included in the second season of YLSE. Darcy, plays the step-mother of January Jones in the award-winning AMC original series MAD MEN. Other television credits include: DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, MY NAME IS EARL, WEST WING and ALIAS. In addition to BIMBOT, Darcy recently completed BANKING ON LOVE (currently making the film festival circuit). Other feature film credits include ACCEPTED and NATIONAL LAMPOON’S VAN WILDER. In addition, Darcy has appeared in countless television commercials, most recently Fidelity Investments (“ What about Paris?”) and V-8.
ALEX MENDOZA (YLSE 2.1:INNER CIRCLES) studied at Santa Clara University, where he received his B.A. in Acting and Directing, and has since built a successful career in Film, Television, and Theatre. Most recent Theatre credits include OF MICE AND MEN at the Pasadena Playhouse, in which he was nominated for a Garland Critic‘s Choice Award, THE CAUCASIAN CHALK CIRCLE, playing the role of Simon at South Coast Rep, PAINT YOUR WAGON at The Geffen Playhouse as Julio Valveras, OUR TOWN (South Coast Rep) as George opposite Sanaa Lathan, and Steve Martin’s PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE at the Theatre On The Square in San Francisco, in which he played The Visitor. Mr. Mendoza’s film credits include THE FALLEN FAITHFUL, the Walt Disney HIT BEVERLY HILLS CHIHUAHUA, ASYLUM DAYS, HITMAN’S RUN, LAND OF MILK AND HONEY, A LITTLE CRAZY, MURDER IN THE MIRROR opposite Jane Seymour. Past television credits include TNT’s CRUSADE, ABC’S PORT CHARLES, STRONG MEDICINE, CHARMED, XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS, BEVERLY HILLS 90210, and many others. Recent television credits include CSI: MIAMI, and a recurring role on DAYS OF OUR LIVES. Mr. Mendoza is also an accomplished voice-over artist and has lent his voice to hundreds of radio and television commercials, as well as video games and various animated series. His next project is the film FLIGHTS OF FANCY, based on the remarkable rags-to-riches story of the family of Salvadoran President Antonio Saca. Alex Mendoza is also the lead singer/songwriter for the band Simpleworld, and his music has been featured on YLSE Season 2, including the single “Elephant.”
YVONNE DE LA ROSA (YLSE 2.1:INNER CIRCLES) Latin American beauty, DeLaRosa first hit Hollywood radar when famed comedy director, Betty Thomas, cast her as the series regular lead in the 20th Century Fox/ Regency pilot SENOR WHITE for the FOX network. In just a few years, Yvonne Delarosa has risen to be one of the most sought-after Latina actresses in Hollywood. (She was awarded the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts Scholarship). Since her breakout role in SENOR WHITE, DeLaRosa has starred in several feature films including CBS’ Movie Event of the year, HELTER SKELTER, opposite Jeremy Davies, the Hallmark Feature DESOLATION CANYON, opposite Stacy Keach, the comedy features BLUE SOMBRERO, opposite Cylk Cozart and Joaquim DeAlameida Jr.

Yvonne has also been heating up the small screen. Her performance on the CBS hit series THE KING OF QUEENS had CBS executives heralding DeLaRosa as “The Latina Lucy! “. Her impressive television credits include, the award winning, Showtime series WEEDS, The hit CBS series SHARK, ABC’s CROSSING JORDAN, CBS’ CSI MIAMI, TNT’s hit THE CLOSER, CBS’ KING OF QUEENS, CBS’ NAVY NCIS, Lifetime’s STRONG MEDICINE, Hallmark’s MYSTERY WOMAN,CBS’ JUDGING AMY and ABC’s NYPD BLUE.

Delarosa began studying theater at age 5, graduated from Hollywood Performing Arts High and received her B.A. degree in directing from UCLA’s film school as well as just recently earning her Masters degree in screen writing from UCLA. She has studied acting with high profile acting teachers including the renowned, Jeff Corey, film and television actor famed for being one of the top acting teachers in America. From the silver screen to the small screen and on stage, Yvonne DeLaRosa is a true thespian in all aspects whose rising star continues to climb. DeLaRosa lives in Malibu, California.
